How to Play

Play Squicky online for free. Squicky is a 12-stage platforming game where you help a mouse collect all the keys needed to unlock a door or cage & exit before the level timer runs out. Watch out for the spikes and cats! This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Press the play button in the bottom center of the welcome screen to bring up the game tutorial.
- There are 3 tutorial screens.
- After scrolling through the tutorial screens you visit the level select screen.
- Levels are unlocked sequentially.
- The upper left corner of the welcome screen has buttons for game developer information and playing in full screen mode.
- The upper right corner of the welcome screen has buttons for controlling game sound and adjusting game language between English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, and Russian.

    - Use the left and right arrow keys to move left and right.
    - Press the spacebar to jump.
    - Press the up arrow key to climb ladders or enter doors.
    - Press the down arrow key to descend down ladders.
    - Touchscreen devices
      - Use the on-screen controls.
      - Controls & indicators
        
        The upper left corner shows:
        
        how many keys there are on the level & how many you have collected so far
        
        how many coins there are on the level & how many you have collected so far
        
        how many seconds you have remaining to beat the level
        
        The upper right corner has a settings menu button which pauses the game when you press it. When paused it reveals buttons to resume play, exit the game, read how to play information, control game sound, and switch to full screen mode.
        
        The level select screen shows which levels you unlocked and how many points you scored on each level.

        Basics
        
        Goal
        
        The goal of this game is to grab all the keys on each level and then go through the door or unlock the mouse cage at the end of each level before the timer runs out.
        
        One hit
        
        In this game you die if you run out of time, fall off platform, hit spikes, or run into the sides of enemies.
        
        Gray and orange cats walk side to side while staying on a particular platform.
        
        White cats fly around the level.
        
        The game offers unlimited continues, but if you die on a level you do not score any points for your progress on that level & must restart at the beginning of that level.
        
        Power ups
        
        Drink the green potion to become invincible.
        
        The potion first appears in level 4.
        
        You can run through the cats when the potion is activated.
        
        Ride the blue airplane to fly around the level.
        
        The plane first appears in level 6.
        
        You can hit white cats from their top while flying in the plane, but can not run into their side.
        
        Levels
        
        This game has 12 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
        
        You can go back and replay previously beat levels to try to earn a higher score on them.
        
        Each level has a unique board layout & level timer.
        
        Scoring
        
        Collect coins, defeat enemies, and finish the levels quickly to increase your level scores.
        
        Coins are worth 1 point each.
        
        You score points for destroying enemies. Gray cats are 2 points, orange cats are 4 points, and white cats are 8 points.
        
        You score a point for each 5 second increment left on the clock when a level is beat.
        
        Your game score is cumulative across levels.
        
        Play tips
        
        This game has one hit deaths. One of the biggest frustrations is jumping and bumping your head into a platform, causing your fall to mistime and have you fall off platform, hit spikes, or run into the side of a cat.
        
        You do not have to collect all the coins to beat a level, but if you are trying to maximize your game score you generally should collect all the coins as each coin is worth the equivalent points as 5 seconds.
        
        Target Audience
        
        The game is suited for players who like simple platformer games.
        
        The game has no adult themed content.
